My name is Erhowvosere (Sere) Otubu, and I am a third-year Computer Engineering student at Queen’s University. Like most black and other coloured students who attend predominantly white institutions, I struggled with the transition and culture shift that I was previously used to back in the Greater Toronto Area. That’s why I am passionate about fostering inclusivity and creating a sense of belonging within the university community. Recognizing the unique challenges that Black students often face on campus, I embarked on this project with my team to establish a vital link between students and the invaluable resources offered by Black Student Services. My commitment to this endeavor was not only driven by a desire to enhance the university experience for Black students but also by the belief in the power of community-driven initiatives. My motivation for championing this project stems from a deep-seated belief in the transformative impact of equitable access to resources and support black-owned student businesses. I am driven by the vision of a campus where every Black student feels supported, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.
